Biography
Eric Vaughan is the CEO of IgniteTech, a nine-figure-revenue enterprise software company that acquires and operates a portfolio of business applications. In early 2023, convinced that generative AI was an existential transformation for the software industry, he ordered one of the most radical AI mandates on record.
AI Mondays — or else
Vaughan declared every Monday “AI Monday”: no customer calls, no budgets, only AI projects, across every department. The company poured roughly 20% of payroll into AI training. What he got back, by his account, was resistance — “flat-out, ‘Yeah, I’m not going to do this’ resistance,” and in some cases outright sabotage, with technical staff proving the most opposed. His response was to replace nearly 80% of the workforce over 2023 and early 2024, a figure Fortune verified against headcount records.
Vaughan insists the purge was never the goal — “You can’t compel people to change, especially if they don’t believe” — but says he would absolutely do it again. He points to the results: patent-pending AI products including the email-automation platform Eloquens AI, a major acquisition (Khoros), and roughly 75% EBITDA by the end of 2024. Critics see a cautionary tale about coercive transformation; Vaughan himself tells other CEOs he does not recommend it.
