Jane Sun
CEO of Trip.com Group
CEO of Trip.com Group, China’s travel giant, who has wired AI through the company — from the TripGenie trip-planning assistant to coding tools she says double engineering productivity.
In her words
We are the Amazon in the travel industry. Of anybody in the travel industry, we have the best chance to make sure the AI agent from our site is the most efficient tool in the whole market.
The productivity for coding can increase more than 50% to 100% year over year, so we are very excited for that.
Biography
Jane Jie Sun (born 1968) is CEO of Trip.com Group, the Shanghai-based travel conglomerate behind Ctrip, Trip.com, Skyscanner and Qunar. A University of Florida-trained accountant who spent years in Silicon Valley, she joined Ctrip as CFO in 2005 and became CEO in November 2016 — one of the few women to run a major global internet company. Fortune has repeatedly named her among the most powerful women in international business.
An AI agent for every traveler
Under Sun, Trip.com Group built TripGenie, a conversational AI assistant that plans itineraries and books trips; the company reported its traffic tripled during 2024. In a November 2025 William Blair interview she detailed how heavily the company invests in AI across four fronts — user interfaces, engineering productivity, customer service and content generation — saying “AI enables our service team to make the right decision to recommend the right hotel, right park, or right travel products to the consumers.”
Sun makes a regular circuit of Davos and global travel summits arguing that AI will handle the drudgery of travel planning while humans supply judgment and service. Her framing is competitive as much as visionary: with the industry racing to build AI booking agents, she argues Trip.com’s inventory and data give it the pole position.
