Károly Zsolnai-Fehér

Károly Zsolnai-Fehér is a Hungarian-born research scientist at TU Wien in Vienna, where he earned his PhD in 2020 on photorealistic material learning and synthesis — itself a machine-learning approach to computer graphics. Since 2015 he has run Two Minute Papers, a YouTube channel with well over a million subscribers that compresses freshly published research papers into a few breathless minutes of narrated visuals, addressed to his audience as “Dear Fellow Scholars.”

An enthusiasm engine for AI research

The channel began with graphics and simulation work but became, in effect, the AI boom’s hype-free hype channel: DeepMind agents, diffusion image generators, NeRFs, fluid simulations, and large language models, each presented days after publication with his catchphrases — “Hold on to your papers” for a startling result, and “What a time to be alive!” for the payoff.
