Theo Browne
Developer & Founder (t3.gg)
Developer-influencer, creator of the T3 stack, and Ping Labs CEO who ships AI products like T3 Chat — while warning that leaning on hand-tuned AI prompts is “a dangerous form of technical debt.”
In his words
When technical debt blows up, it usually causes errors or a tangible slowdown as you try to understand the code. Prompts will decay silently.
Biography
Theo Browne is a software developer, YouTuber, and founder known online as t3.gg. He created the popular “T3 stack” for building type-safe web apps, runs the startup Ping Labs, and has one of the most-watched channels for working web developers, mixing tutorials with sharp commentary on industry trends.
A builder who ships AI — and warns about it
Browne is firmly pro-AI in practice: he built and shipped T3 Chat, a fast AI chat product, and regularly demonstrates coding alongside AI tools. But he is also one of the more clear-eyed critics of how teams use them. He argues that carefully hand-tuned AI prompts are a form of technical debt — worse, in one respect, than ordinary code, because they decay silently with every model upgrade rather than throwing a visible error.
His recommendation is counterintuitive for a power user: most engineers, he contends, should abandon bespoke prompt-engineering and rely on minimally configured, third-party-maintained tools. It is criticism from inside the tent — a builder pushing for AI to be used more durably, not less.
