Biography
Jack Draper (born 2001 in Sutton, England) is a professional tennis player who rose to become British No. 1 and a top-ranked figure on the ATP Tour, reaching a Grand Slam semi-final and winning multiple tour titles. The son of a former Lawn Tennis Association chief executive, he is one of the leading faces of British tennis.
Doubting the automated call
At Wimbledon 2025, the first edition to hand line-calling entirely to an electronic system in place of human judges, Draper joined the players questioning it. After a match he said he felt some calls had been wrong, arguing the system could not be fully accurate down to the millimetre and noting that its displayed ball marks did not correspond to what chalk on the grass would have shown.
His skepticism placed him alongside fellow Britons Emma Raducanu and others in a wave of player criticism during the tournament, which was compounded when the system was accidentally switched off mid-match and failed to make a call — an error Wimbledon later attributed to human operators.
