Katie Couric (b. 1957) broke barriers as the first woman to solo-anchor a network evening newscast, after fifteen years co-hosting NBC’s Today. Since founding Katie Couric Media with her husband John Molner in 2017, she has reinvented herself as a digital media entrepreneur — newsletters, podcasts and branded video — with AI as a recurring beat.

Google’s AI interviewer of choice

Couric fronts “The Future of AI with Katie Couric,” a Think with Google interview series in which she quizzes senior Google figures — research SVP James Manyika and Google DeepMind COO Lila Ibrahim among them — about AI’s promise for business, creativity and responsible development. The paid partnership (her LinkedIn posts carry the #ad tag) grew out of her earlier “Future Ready” series for Google on AI, cybersecurity and privacy.

Her enthusiasm is most personal in health care. A colon cancer awareness advocate since losing her first husband to the disease in 1998, Couric told Forbes in March 2024 she was excited about AI-assisted colonoscopy systems that help doctors catch polyps before they turn cancerous. Her media company covers the technology from every angle — including skeptical first-person essays about ChatGPT and AI art — and her podcast Next Question has probed AI’s dark side with guests like Geoffrey Hinton.

Couric is no uncritical booster — her outlets have run warnings about deepfakes and AI’s threat to artists — but her own posture is that of an engaged adopter: taking AI sponsorship money, lending her credibility to Google’s AI narrative, and betting her media brand on explaining the technology rather than resisting it.
