In his words
A lot of political vendetta was affecting me and my family… People were using my voice, my name and my photograph for fake AI advertisements and selling products using my identity. It is a big relief for me.
Biography
Ravi Kishan (Ravindra Shukla, born 1969) is a prolific actor across Bhojpuri and Hindi cinema and a reality-television regular, who entered politics with the BJP and serves as the Member of Parliament for Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh.
A court order against AI deepfakes
On July 2, 2026, in Ravindra Shukla v. Ashok Kumar, Justice Jyoti Singh of the Delhi High Court granted Ravi Kishan an ex-parte interim injunction protecting his personality rights. The order restrained unknown defendants from the unauthorized use of his name, image, likeness and voice — expressly including AI-generated deepfakes and obscene or defamatory synthetic content — and directed platforms such as Meta, Google and X to take down identified material within 72 hours.
The court recognised that his name, image and voice carry “significant commercial value” deserving legal protection. Reacting to the order, Kishan told Mumbai Mirror that people “were using my voice, my name and my photograph for fake AI advertisements and selling products using my identity,” and called the injunction “a big relief.” His suit is part of a fast-growing line of Indian celebrity personality-rights cases — following Anil Kapoor and Amitabh Bachchan — in which the courts have become the front line against AI misuse of famous likenesses.
