Biography
Liam Gallagher (born 1972 in Manchester) fronted Oasis through the Britpop era, singing “Wonderwall,” “Live Forever,” and “Champagne Supernova” before the band’s 2009 split and its blockbuster 2025 reunion tour. His sneering, nasal delivery is one of the most recognizable voices in British rock — which made it an irresistible target for AI voice cloning.
Blessing the bootleg
In April 2023 the British indie band Breezer released “AISIS — The Lost Tapes Vol. 1,” an eight-song album written and recorded during lockdown, with their singer’s vocals replaced by an AI model of Gallagher’s voice — a fantasy of what Oasis might have made had the classic mid-’90s lineup stayed together. Where most artists reached for lawyers, Gallagher reached for Twitter.

He admitted he had only heard one tune, but judged it “better than all the other snizzle out there.” The endorsement landed the same month Grimes invited fans to clone her voice for royalties, and stood in sharp contrast to the music industry’s scramble to purge AI soundalikes from streaming services. Gallagher never licensed or monetized the project — his contribution was simply refusing to be offended by it.
