Arun Maini
Tech YouTuber
One of the world’s biggest tech reviewers, known as Mrwhosetheboss, who enthusiastically uses and tests AI tools while warning loudly against the flood of low-effort “AI slop” on YouTube.
In his words
ChatGPT’s new 4o image generation is freakin INSANE. The first image is what I started with, each image after was created with one command.
Biography
Arun Maini (born 1996), known online as Mrwhosetheboss, is a British tech YouTuber whose channel is among the largest technology-review destinations in the world, with tens of millions of subscribers. He built his following on meticulous smartphone comparisons and long-form investigations into the consumer-tech industry.
Enthusiast and slop critic
Maini is an eager user of AI tools — he has run head-to-head tests of ChatGPT, Grok, and Gemini, praised image and video generators as astonishing, and described using ChatGPT to help ideate and pressure-test video concepts. His posture toward the technology itself is one of fascination, not fear.
At the same time, he has become one of the platform’s more prominent critics of “AI slop” — the flood of cheap, mass-produced synthetic videos he argues erodes the human connection that makes YouTube worth watching. That tension — embracing AI as a creative collaborator while campaigning against its lowest-effort uses — is the defining feature of his stance, and a common one among working creators.
