In his words
Artificial intelligence & robots doing most work on earth is the golden age of consciousness. This is the time human beings can focus on consciousness.
Biography
Sadhguru (born Jaggi Vasudev, 1957) is an Indian yogi, author, and founder of the Isha Foundation, with a vast global following for his teachings on yoga and inner engineering. He is also an enthusiastic commentator on technology and the future of work.
Machines free the mind
Rather than fearing automation, Sadhguru welcomes it. His recurring theme is that when AI and robots take over data-gathering, analysis, and routine labor, human beings will finally be free to turn inward — a shift he frames not as job loss but as liberation toward higher pursuits.
He often makes the point in playful terms, quipping that a robot can do almost anything a human can except meditate, because it has no consciousness — so “ultimately, only meditators will be employed.” The provocation carries his serious claim: that the value of being human shifts from computation, which machines do better, to awareness, which they cannot do at all.
Sadhguru’s optimism is spiritual rather than technical — he is not building models — but among religious leaders he is notably unafraid of AI, treating it as a catalyst for human growth rather than a threat to it.
