Taylor Swift
Pop Superstar
The most commercially dominant pop star of her era became the world’s most visible deepfake victim — explicit AI images, then a fake Trump endorsement — and publicly cited “my fears around AI” in response.
Why this score
How the formula works →- 100%anti1 anti-AI statement (measured)

In her words
The simplest way to combat misinformation is with the truth.
It really conjured up my fears around AI, and the dangers of spreading misinformation.
Biography
Taylor Swift (born 1989 in West Reading, Pennsylvania) went from teenage country prodigy to the defining pop artist of her generation, with a record four Album of the Year Grammys and the Eras Tour, the highest-grossing concert tour in history. Few living people have a more valuable — or more cloned — name, face, and voice.
The year of the deepfake
In January 2024, sexually explicit AI-generated images of Swift flooded X, spreading so fast the platform temporarily blocked searches for her name; the episode became a catalyst for federal and state proposals against nonconsensual AI imagery. In August 2024, Donald Trump posted AI-generated images to Truth Social — including fake “Swifties for Trump” crowds — implying she had endorsed him, captioned “I accept!”
Swift answered on September 10, 2024, in the Instagram post endorsing Kamala Harris: she wrote that learning AI images of “her” falsely endorsing Trump had been posted to his site “conjured up my fears around AI,” and concluded she needed to be transparent about her actual voting plans because truth was the simplest counter to misinformation. Fortune noted her case exposed the absence of a clear federal standard against election deepfakes.
Swift has never campaigned against AI as a technology — her stance is that of the world’s most-cloned person demanding that her likeness remain hers. But given her cultural reach, even a single Instagram paragraph about AI fears arguably did more to mainstream deepfake concern than years of policy papers.
