Biography
Ariadna Thalía Sodi Miranda (b. 1971, Mexico City) is one of the best-selling Latin artists in history. She started as a child performer in the group Din-Din, joined the legendary pop act Timbiriche as a teenager in 1986, and became a global phenomenon through her “Marías” trilogy of telenovelas — María Mercedes, Marimar and María la del Barrio — before a solo music career that made her the “Queen of Latin Pop” to millions.
Her own biggest AI fan
Where many stars fight AI recreations of themselves, Thalía commissions and celebrates them. In June 2023 she shared a psychedelic AI avatar video of herself set to her hit “A quién le importa,” created by the visual artist Project Ravenlight (who has made similar avatars for Madonna and Blondie), reacting on Instagram with delight — “Qué locura, me encanta!” — and asking fans to pick their favorite #ThaliAIVersion.
She kept going. In December 2025 she posted an AI-generated video reuniting her present-day self with her iconic telenovela characters — María Mercedes, Marimar, María la del Barrio and Rosalinda — posing for selfies with her younger fictional selves, a clip that spread rapidly across Latin entertainment media. Days later, in January 2026, she released an AI-made retrospective of her entire musical journey, from Din-Din and Timbiriche onward, closing with an appearance by her late mother, Yolanda Miranda — an emotional touch fans read as a tribute rather than a gimmick. Coverage framed it as the introduction to a “super special project” planned for 2026.
Thalía has offered little policy commentary on AI; her embrace is practical and promotional. But in a debate where peers like Taylor Swift have been victimized by AI fakes, her choice to author playful AI versions of herself — on her own terms, through her own channels — is a notably different model of celebrity engagement with the technology.
