Biography
Angel Reese (born 2002 in Baltimore) is a professional basketball player who became one of the most prominent figures in women’s sports after leading LSU to the 2023 NCAA championship and being drafted into the WNBA, where she set rebounding records as a rookie. She is among the most-followed athletes of her generation.
Deepfaked without consent
In March 2024, while still at LSU, Reese discovered non-consensual explicit AI-generated images of herself spreading on social media. She responded publicly on X, disowning the images and condemning the people making them, adding pointedly that she was “literally 21” and would never have produced such content. Multiple outlets documented her statements as she pushed back against the abuse.
Reese’s case became a widely cited example of how generative-AI image tools are used to sexually harass women in the public eye — a pattern that has also targeted athletes and public figures such as Taylor Swift. Her decision to name the problem rather than ignore it lent a prominent voice to calls for platforms and lawmakers to treat synthetic sexual imagery as abuse.
