Biography
Céline Dion (born 1968 in Charlemagne, Quebec) is the best-selling Canadian recording artist in history, with global smashes from “The Power of Love” to “My Heart Will Go On.” After revealing a diagnosis of stiff person syndrome in 2022, her voice — the thing the disease attacks — became the emotional center of a comeback that peaked with her performance at the 2024 Paris Olympics opening ceremony.
“Fake and not approved”
In March 2025, her team posted a statement to her official Instagram warning that “unsanctioned, AI-generated music purporting to contain Celine Dion’s musical performances, and name and likeness” was circulating online and across streaming platforms. The apparent trigger was an AI-generated gospel song, “Heal Me Lord,” credited to Dion in videos that racked up more than a million views, alongside fake AI “duets” pairing her with Whitney Houston on “I Will Always Love You” and with Charlie Puth on “See You Again.”
CBC noted she was joining a growing list of artists sounding the alarm on AI voice fakes. Dion’s case is unusually pointed: the counterfeit songs spread while she was fighting a neurological disease to keep singing at all, and some fans reportedly believed the AI gospel tracks were genuine new recordings from her comeback.
