Jacksepticeye
Gaming YouTuber
Irish gaming YouTuber (Seán McLoughlin, 30M+ subscribers) and one of the creator world’s bluntest AI critics: “I hate what this platform is turning into. Fuck AI.” His callout of MrBeast’s AI thumbnail tool helped get it pulled within days.
In his words
What the actual fuck… and he used my logo in the promotion for it too. I hate what this platform is turning into. Fuck AI.
AI art sucks. If you’re an artist feel free to promote your work in the replies to this tweet so more people can find each other.
Biography
Jacksepticeye is the channel of Seán McLoughlin (born 1990), the Irish creator whose high-energy game playthroughs — opened for years with a bellowed “Top of the mornin’!” — built one of gaming YouTube’s largest audiences. Beyond let’s-plays he runs the Thankmas charity campaigns, which have raised tens of millions for causes, and the Top of the Mornin’ coffee brand.
“Fuck AI”
McLoughlin has planted himself firmly on the artists’ side of the generative-AI fight. In March 2025 he tweeted simply that AI art sucks, turning his feed into a promotion thread for human artists. Then in June 2025, when MrBeast’s Viewstats platform launched an AI thumbnail generator — with Jacksepticeye’s own logo appearing in the promo — he erupted in the tweet that defined the backlash: “I hate what this platform is turning into. Fuck AI.” MrBeast pulled the tool within days and replaced it with a directory for commissioning human thumbnail artists.
He kept pressing through 2025. In a late-September video he tore into YouTube’s expanding AI features and the “AI slop” filling the platform’s feeds — synthetic channels competing against the human creators whose work trained the systems in the first place. For McLoughlin the issue is the ecosystem: thumbnails, art, and video generated at zero cost crowd out the artists and editors whose commissions the creator economy used to fund.
His stance carries weight precisely because he is no outsider: one of the platform’s biggest beneficiaries arguing that the platform’s AI turn is cannibalizing the community that built it.
