Jamie Lee Curtis (born 1958) is one of Hollywood’s most enduring stars — the scream queen of Halloween, a Golden Globe winner for True Lies, and an Academy Award winner for Everything Everywhere All at Once (2023). In 2025 she became the most visible celebrity victim of AI ad fraud.
Shaming Zuckerberg
For months, a fake AI-generated commercial circulated on Instagram using footage from Curtis’s MSNBC interview about the Los Angeles wildfires, manipulated with a synthetic voice to make her appear to endorse a dental product. After Meta’s official reporting channels failed, Curtis posted an open letter in May 2025 addressed directly to Mark Zuckerberg, writing that the misuse “diminishes my opportunities to actually speak my truth.” The ad was taken down within roughly two hours. “IT WORKED! YAY INTERNET! SHAME HAS ITS VALUE!” she posted afterward.
The episode became a case study in how even famous, well-lawyered victims of AI impersonation had no reliable recourse short of public shaming — cited repeatedly in press coverage of the NO FAKES Act and platform accountability debates. Curtis, a SAG-AFTRA member whose union struck in 2023 partly over AI protections, has continued to speak against unauthorized digital replicas of performers.
