Biography
Noel Gallagher (born 1967 in Manchester) wrote “Wonderwall,” “Don’t Look Back in Anger” and the rest of the songbook that made Oasis the biggest British band of the 1990s. In 2023 he became an unwilling AI test subject when Breezer, an indie band, released “AISIS: The Lost Tapes Vol. 1” — original songs sung by an AI clone of his brother’s voice, pitched as the Oasis album that never was.

His brother Liam Gallagher — the voice being cloned — called the project “mega.” Noel’s review, delivered to The Sun in June 2023, ran the other way: the songs had no soul and no feeling, the exercise was as pointless as its makers, and AI-written lyrics he had seen were worse than his own. Days earlier he had been blunter still about AISIS’s creators.
These fucking idiots have clearly got too much time on their hands and too much money that they can afford the technology to fucking piss around doing that for a laugh.
Beneath the invective sits a specific industrial fear: Gallagher predicted record labels would replace human songwriters with AI within a decade, churning out music until “all music will end up the same” and “you won’t know who’s singing.” His confidence in his own immunity is characteristic — you can clone the singer’s voice “and his tambourine playing,” he allowed, but not the songwriting.
