RZA
Wu-Tang Clan producer & composer
Wu-Tang Clan mastermind and film composer who used AI to prototype a 2024 orchestral work and pitches the technology as a time-saving creative amplifier — “an amazing thing for us.”
In his words
Any thought conceived can be expressed. And for a creator, that’s everything… I think that’s an amazing thing for us.
It could take three days to get something good with today’s technology. And with AI assistant, I could turn that three days to three hours.
Biography
RZA (Robert Diggs, born 1969) is the founder and de facto producer of the Wu-Tang Clan, one of the most influential groups in hip-hop, and has built a second career as a film composer and director. His restless interest in new production tools has long shaped his sound, from dusty samplers to full orchestras.
Making the case for AI
For his 2024 classical album “A Ballet Through Mud,” RZA used AI tools to build demos, which he says compressed the orchestral process dramatically and helped control the enormous cost of studio orchestras. Speaking on a CES 2026 panel, he framed AI as a creative accelerator that collapses days of work into hours and lets any conceived idea be realized.
His enthusiasm sits pointedly against the reaction of Wu-Tang bandmate Method Man, who has voiced alarm over AI voice fakes — a reminder that even within one group, artists split sharply on the technology.
