Brittany Marsicek

Brittany Marsicek trained as a dancer — a BA in dance from Point Park University’s Conservatory of Performing Arts — before moving to Los Angeles and turning to acting, with early credits including national commercials and a supporting role in American Horror Story. In recent years she has worked mainly in vertical micro dramas, the phone-shaped serials that briefly became one of the busiest sources of paid acting work in the United States. She has appeared in more than 25 of them across ReelShort, GoodShort, DramaBox, and MoboReels.

The contract said “editing”

Marsicek starred in the MoboReels series “Ex-Husband, Step Aside, Lady Boss Returns.” It was reissued with an AI lead — a different face, but her performance underneath it, down to the delivery and the voice. Speaking to Business Insider in July 2026, she said her contracts carried no AI protections and, like most in the nonunion vertical business, gave the producer broad editing rights.

Verticals lean on early-career and nonunion performers, many of whom are wary of speaking publicly at all — a point Marsicek made in the same interview. Her most pointed contribution to the debate is a piece of arithmetic rather than a moral claim: other actors hoped audiences would reject synthetic remakes, and she thinks the cost structure makes that hope irrelevant.

She was one of three performers — with Ashley BeLoat and Evan Gambardella — who put their names to the practice in the same report, at a point when the US micro drama business was valued at about $1.4 billion and moving quickly toward synthetic casts.
