Faith Orta is an actor in vertical microdramas, the minute-long serials sold by apps including DramaBox, ReelShort, and GoodShort. The apps compete for viewers largely through social advertising — an industry producer told Business Insider that a show earning $30 million might have spent $27 million of it on ads — which is where AI entered her story.

A scene that never happened

Scrolling TikTok, Orta was, in her word, “flabbergasted” to see an ad in which a man pulled off her top and grabbed her breast, blurred. The show it promoted, “The Fake Debutante and The True Billionaire,” contained no such moment; the footage had been altered. Her objection was not prudish but jurisdictional — who decides what her body appears to do.

She was one of four performers — with Tess Dinerstein, David Eves, and Haley Lohrli — who went public in May 2026 about sexualised AI promos. Three said that when they complained, the apps told them the ads had been made by third parties. Meta and TikTok, where the ads ran, prohibit sexual content and require AI labelling; researchers have repeatedly shown material slipping past both. Months later, a second wave of reporting found AI copies replacing performers in the shows themselves.
