There’s a certain platform that is not only allowing these images to be freely distributed, but literally has a built-in tool that allows people to create it.
Biography
Imane “Pokimane” Anys (born 1996) is a Moroccan-Canadian streamer who became the most-followed woman on Twitch, a co-founder of the OfflineTV collective, and one of the defining creators of the platform’s rise. Her prominence also made her a perennial target of the internet’s worst uses of AI.
A decade of deepfakes
Anys was among the women whose fabricated explicit videos were sold on the deepfake site exposed in the January 2023 Atrioc scandal, alongside QTCinderella and others. Three years later she reported the problem had metastasized: in a January 2026 video she said she had spent “thousands of dollars” getting AI-generated explicit images of herself removed, calling it unjust to expect victims to pay to erase “things that shouldn’t even exist.”
From a personal perspective, it’s really jarring to see inappropriate photos of yourself, even if they’re not real.
Her 2026 statement took direct aim at X’s Grok, whose image tools users were exploiting to “undress” women’s ordinary selfies at scale — a controversy that triggered regulatory probes and lawsuits against xAI worldwide. Anys placed the blame on platforms and absent regulation rather than on victims’ online presence, and framed the gap between AI’s pace and lawmaking as the core failure.
